Graffiti Working Group in Olten

On 3 June 2026, the COLPOFER Graffiti Working Group brought together railway security professionals in Olten, Switzerland, for a full day of practical exchange hosted by SBB. The meeting gathered 18 participants from 10 countries, confirming the Working Group’s growing role as a forum for operational cooperation, peer learning, and the sharing of effective responses to graffiti-related threats across the European rail sector.

The programme combined strategic discussion with hands-on operational focus. Alongside round-table updates from members on the current graffiti situation in their respective networks, the agenda featured a contribution by Lisa-Marie Cole from TFL on the use of public data to support graffiti prevention, followed by a dedicated exchange on technical solutions and countermeasures. Discussions also addressed emerging trends and incidents affecting railway operators, including hidden tracking devices on trains, misuse of emergency brakes, challenges linked to international train stabling, and the rise of interior graffiti in less-monitored areas. The day concluded with a visit to the SBB Video Control Center, reinforcing the meeting’s emphasis on practical cooperation, innovation, and the continued development of shared tools such as the Group’s countermeasures database.
