Major Events Working Group in Brussels

On 28 May 2026, the WG Managing Events & Control Room met in Brussels, hosted by SNCB’s Corporate Security Service, bringing together representatives from SNCF, NS, DB, FS, Eurostar, UIC and UITP for a full day of operational exchange on security coordination and control room cooperation. The session focused on crisis and incident communication as well as the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), confirming the Working Group’s role as a practical forum for strengthening preparedness, coordination and information exchange during major international events.

The agenda combined strategic discussion with concrete operational perspectives. Participants exchanged presentations on their respective control rooms and security operations centres, reviewed the results of the Business Continuity questionnaire carried out by UIC, and explored the relationship between public transport and railway approaches to major events through contributions linked to UITP and COLPOFER activities. The programme also included three dedicated workshops on cross-border crisis management, cross-border incident management, and coordination centres for major events, followed by a field visit to the SNCB Security Operations Center. Discussions highlighted a shared need for stronger cross-border communication standards, more structured exchange of best practices, and closer operational cooperation in support of railway security and business continuity.
